Microsoft SharePoint licensing

In 2001, Microsoft introduced a platform called SharePoint. It changed the existing possibilities of corporate communication by creating an internal communication platform for large companies. Even after more than 20 years, MS SharePoint brings a system to internal corporate communication and thus increases its efficiency.

SharePoint facilitates the transfer of information within a company. It enables the creation of intranets, internal websites or internal social networks. Among other things, it also connects other services such as OneDrive or Exchange, thus truly creating a single "sharing point", as the literal translation of the application's name sounds. It also contains countless tools that can consolidate the team's methodology and promote productivity. Functionally, it finds a use for every employee involved in the company's operations.

You can license the program as an on-premise (perpetual license) or as an online service under Microsoft subscription plans.

What can SharePoint do?

SharePoint can process your data securely and efficiently, both in and out. Information is easily traceable thanks to filtering or specific sorting that can be customized for individual organization requirements. Automation can also be introduced on the created document libraries, e.g. according to the date the documents will be moved to a location of your choice.

When a company has multiple users, the company calendar is just a starting point for communication. SharePoint allows multiple users to work on a document, project, or shared content, all at the same time. Each user also has their own personal space in what is called My Sites, where they can store their notes and documents.

  • Team organisation
  • Tasks and the ability to monitor their progress
  • Creating your own registration lists
  • Easy connection to Outlook

Keep your business processes under control

Unifying corporate communication and setting up efficient processes is one of the most important priorities for medium and large companies. In SharePoint, you can set up a structure of activities and corporate methodologies completely according to your processes.

  • Customized web spaces
  • Setting access rights for each individual
  • Approval processes
  • Business portal
  • Automation and triggers

SharePoint Online Licensing

Like any subscription, SharePoint Online is a time-limited service and therefore has restrictions common to all subscription types. Your data will be hosted in the data centers of the company, and Microsoft and your organization will only be granted time-limited access to it. Once the subscription expires, users will gradually lose access to the data until it is irreversibly lost.

SharePoint Online can be purchased as a standalone service in two plans (SharePoint Online Plan 1 or SharePoint Online Plan 2) or as part of most Microsoft 365 and Office 365 packages.

SharePoint Server Licensing (On-premise)

In the case of on-premise solutions, the company deploys SharePoint Server and the required number of access licenses, the so-called CAL (Client Access License). If the company uses other on-premise server products from Microsoft (Windows Server, Exchange...), it is advisable to purchase CALs through CORE CAL access license packages that cover authorized access to multiple Microsoft applications (Windows Server, Exchange, SharePoint, Skype for Business and System Center Configuration Manager).

In the case of on-premise licenses, the data is in your personal cloud and you are not limited by the need for continuous payment.
