Task and goal

Office Suite

As part of the public contract, the Masaryk Institute requested licenses for MicrosoftOffice Standard in version 2016 with product key activation using Key Management Services. KMS technology enables dynamic assignment of activations according to the customer's current needs.

The goal was the delivery of Office Standard 2016 office packages in the total number of 550 licenses with the delivery of a KMS activation key.

Solution

Office 2016 activated with a new KMS key

Microsoft Office 2016 represents the most advantageous version of the office suite for larger organizations. It has the same end period of support as the 2019 version and is also compatible with older versions of the operating system Microsoft Windows. One so-called "new" license was also part of the delivery Microsoft Office Standard 2021 including Software Assurance. For the 2021 version, it is only possible to get KMS by purchasing the license with SA. The delivery was made through the Open Value program and the license was transferred to the VLSC (Volume Licensing Service Center) account of the MOÚ. New license was further used for activation of all delivered licenses under the right to reimaging, which is part of all volume licenses. In combination with the right to downgrade, it is thus possible to use the new KMS key even for older versions of the product in the same edition.
